What to know
Dr. Lawrence Iteld is a board-certified plastic surgeon with more than 20 years of experience across aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. His Chicago practice covers the breasts, body, and face, with breast augmentation, reduction, and revision among the procedures it specifically highlights.
Iteld takes a pretty individualized approach to surgery, looking at each patient’s anatomy, goals, and lifestyle before deciding what makes the most sense. His practice says the goal is “enhancing your appearance” rather than making you look like a different person. He also uses his SMART RECOVERY™ protocol to manage pain after surgery, cut down on narcotics, and help patients return to normal life sooner.
Procedures
Iteld performs breast augmentation for patients looking to add volume or change the size and proportions of their breasts, along with breast reduction for those who want less breast volume or relief from the physical discomfort that can come with larger breasts. Breast revision is also part of his practice, making him an option for patients who have already undergone breast surgery and are considering another procedure.
His work extends beyond breast surgery into surgical and nonsurgical body contouring, facial procedures such as facelifts, cosmetic injectables, and skin treatments. Across those areas, treatment plans are customized rather than pulled from a standard menu, with the practice placing particular emphasis on results that look natural and “feel right for you.”
Iteld also builds recovery planning into the surgical process through SMART RECOVERY™, his practice’s protocol for managing comfort and healing after surgery. One of its main goals is reducing reliance on unnecessary narcotic pain medication while still keeping postoperative discomfort under control.
Consultations
Iteld offers both in-person and virtual consultations, which can be helpful for patients traveling to Chicago from elsewhere in the Midwest or farther away. Photos can be sent ahead of time, and the patient coordinator provides instructions on what to submit before the appointment.
For patients coming into the office, the practice also offers early Tuesday appointments and later Wednesday appointments to accommodate different schedules. During the consultation, Iteld goes over treatment options, expected results, and recovery so patients have a clearer idea of what surgery would actually involve before making a decision.
The consultation fee is $250, and the practice applies it toward the cost of surgery. Appointments should be canceled or rescheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

What to know before booking
Iteld offers more than one approach to breast augmentation, including implant placement either above or below the chest muscle. According to his practice, where the implant goes depends on things like implant size, implant type, and your body type, so that’s something you’ll want to talk through during the consultation rather than assuming there’s one standard approach.
Recovery is also worth asking about in detail. His practice says most patients can get back to “everyday activities within a few days,” though exercise and other strenuous activity should be avoided for at least a couple of months. Patients are also sent home in a medical sports bra to help with swelling while the breasts begin settling into position.
If pain medication is something you’re nervous about, Iteld’s practice says it offers “narcotics-free treatments” after breast augmentation, and that most patients are able to get through recovery using lower-strength pain medication.
