In a world where fast fashion dominates, finding a brand that aligns with your values can be a challenge. That’s where La Tribeau comes in. Founded in 2022, this sustainable lingerie brand was built on the principles of confidence, involvement, and awareness. But La Tribeau isn’t just about sustainable fashion—it’s about inspiring women to live their best lives.

Lingerie is the first thing you put on in the morning and the last thing you take off, but in between those moments is a big gap in which you get challenged, stimulated, and inspired. At La Tribeau, they want to give you a daily dose of inspiration; from beauty hacks to date nights, decor ideas, playlists, and everything in between.

But the intimates label isn’t just about inspiration, it’s also about community. Think of them as your close friends or sisters, but without the clothes stealing. They’re here to talk about everything from what lingerie they’re wearing to what they had for breakfast. They get you, and they’re here to inspire you with the atmosphere around them to live your best life.

So, why should you check out La Tribeau? Founder Guusje Verhoef is passionate about creating a brand that not only looks good but feels good. In our exclusive interview, she discusses how the brand started, the importance of design, and feeling confident in your underwear. What motivated you to launch your own lingerie brand in the first place?

I started lingerie with the idea that lingerie can be fashionable, and doesn’t always have to be black or red, etc. Also, I found that in the Netherlands there weren’t any options to find sustainable lingerie; so I combined that and created a tribe with a whole lifestyle blog and world around the brand.

For those who are unfamiliar with the brand, what’s the story behind the name La Tribeau?

Lingerie is the first thing you put on in the morning and the last thing you take off, but in between these moments is a big gap in which you get challenged, stimulated, and inspired. At La Tribeau, we would like to give you a taste of our daily dose of inspiration; from beauty hacks to date nights, decor ideas, playlists, and everything in between. It’s for those who aren’t afraid to take risks and want to be part of our adventure. Tribeau comes from ‘tribe’ (all of of together) and ‘beau’ (feel pretty in your own body wearing lingerie).

Going back just a bit, what sparked your interest in the alluring world of lingerie? Was there a specific reason that inspired you to venture into this industry?

That’s funny, it all started when I studied at Amsterdam Fashion Institute and we had to create a magazine about underwear. We had to do research and I was like; why isn’t there a cool lingerie brand in the Netherlands?

How did you eventually come to develop the principles of confidence, involvement, and awareness that underpin the brand’s values?

I think everyone should be feeling confident in their own body, for just being themselves and embracing every part of it. Also, the La Tribeau audience is involved. I am striving to create a tribe of people/sisters where we can talk about what we’ve had for dinner, but also I want to have people their opinion and I am super curious about the things they like from La Tribeau, and want to see for next collections.

Talk to us about some of the various styles that the brand carries at the moment. Currently, you can find everything from underwire bras and briefs to bodysuits with chic patterns.

I want to look at trends in fashion. Since I am working for ELLE magazine in the Netherlands I am always on top of trends. So was holographic prints very cool last season.

What do you want people to feel when they wear your designs, especially young women who are growing increasingly interested in not on sustainable, but quality lingerie?

I think when investing in good lingerie, you won’t only feel good about yourself wearing it, but also in buying in quality so it last longer and you have more fun with it. 🙂

As mentioned before, the brand’s latest pieces incorporate elements such as lettuce hems, holographic prints, and mesh—how does La Tribeau balance comfort and style in its designs?

I think comfort is a must, but I want to create something special and something you can’t find anywhere else.

Being a new trailblazer in the industry, what guidance do you have for women who may struggle with their body image?

I think self-love is the best love – and once you can fully embrace your body you feel so much better. In every way. I also it comes with age and experience. Beauty is beyond size, our bodies should not be a trend; we are all seen for our beautiful selves.

With La Tribeau having an already explosive launch in 2022, what do you look forward to this year?

I can’t wait for the next collection and I hope to expand my brand in other countries and warehouses.
